I too, longed to be in that club. Six years with the same agency and I chose to go it alone in the indy world. They might like to have a queer writer in their stable but in the end it doesn’t mean they will work for you or have the right connections. I love that you are blazing your own trail.
It gave me an insight into a world (publishing) that is totally foreign to me. I never knew it was this hard to get your work published. I identify with how you view things differently now that you are 70. I admire your ability to change course and not to depend on an “agent” to reach an audience. Bravo!
Yes, yes, yes. Querying publishers is another, often futile, endeavor.
Yep, one with the power of (extremely) intermittent reinforcement.
I love this piece. I can feel it in my bones, in relation to my own story of hope. I love your writings Sandra. I always have.
Thank you, Jill, for your support.
Hearts and flowers to you on this cold, snow in them their hills, kinda morning. It's my honor to support such a good writer and friend. :-)
You should know that you are my first substack sub.
I'm honored to your first! Also, as you remember, we're suffering here because it dropped into the 50s last night.
LOL Stay warm in those 'freezing' FL temps!
Aways learning, never defeated for long, still writing great pieces. That’s you Sandra. Keep writing! Your work is terrific!
Thank you, dear Pammy.

Thank you, Gale. Your writing blazes a trail for sure!

Thanks, Nazie. This means a lot from someone who's embraced more than one "course change" in her life.
You are one of the best writers I know, avenged or not, and that will never change.
Glenda, thank you for all your support for all these years.
I have watched your successes with delight.
